The Challenge
The business runs a buying group: it publishes deals, members commit to buying units, ship the goods in, and get paid once each item is checked. Every step involved a different record, from the deal itself and how many units each member committed to, to which packages had arrived, whether they matched the description, and how much each member was owed.
Keeping deals, commitments, incoming shipments, condition checks and payouts in step by hand made it hard to scale the member base and to give members a clear view of their own orders and earnings.
Our Solution
We built two connected products on a single Laravel 12 codebase: a Filament admin back-office with role-based permissions for the operations team, and a member portal built with Livewire, alongside a REST API that serves the mobile app. Both work from the same data, so a deal published by an admin, a member commit and the resulting shipment are tracked as one record from start to finish.
Members browse deals by type (on sale, below cost, standard, in store), commit to one or several deals in a single order with a quantity per commit, and FedEx shipments and labels are created from within the platform. Each order moves through a defined lifecycle: processing, received as described, received not as described, returned or cancelled. Payouts run through Bank of America CashPro for ACH and wire transfers, with account validation and routing-number lookup before money is sent.

The Results
- One record per deal: deals, member commits, shipments, condition checks and payouts are tracked in a single system instead of separate files.
- Clear item outcomes: every order follows a defined status lifecycle, so items received not as described or returned are flagged explicitly.
- Bank-connected payouts: ACH and wire payouts go through Bank of America CashPro, with account validation and routing-number lookup built in.
- Built-in shipping: FedEx shipments and labels are created inside the platform rather than on a separate carrier site.
- Web and mobile from one backend: the Livewire member portal and the mobile app share the same Sanctum-secured API and business rules.
